Key Spices and Their Uses in Scripture

Galbanum is a pungent, aromatic gum resin listed in Exodus 30:34 as a key ingredient in the

holy, sacred incense used in the Tabernacle.

It was to be blended with equal parts of stacte, onycha,

and pure frankincense.

Although it has a strong, sharp odor on its own, it was essential for

fixing and balancing the scent of the other spices.
