September is
Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a critical period for highlighting the severe health disparities affecting Black men. In the United States, Black men have the highest incidence rate of prostate cancer in the world and face a significantly higher risk of mortality compared to other groups.
Key Statistics for Black Men (2025–2026)
Diagnosis Risk: 1 in 6 Black men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, compared to 1 in 8 for the general male population.
Mortality Rate: Black men are twice as likely to die from the disease as White men.
